Massive wildfires are nearing homes in Orense Province, Spain. Since Wednesday July, 29 several response teams have been trying to control the fire. Regardless of the efforts, authorities believe it may still affect the population. The perpetrator that allegedly starting the fire has been arrested.

A snow pile in Buffalo, NY is surviving the heat. After last November’s record breaking snowfall, a 10-foot mound of snow is still intact at a local dump site.

On July 28, powerful storms in Tilston, Manitoba produced an extraordinary EF 2 tornado that stayed on the ground for nearly three hours!

Marithza Calderon is native Texan, her professional background includes morning meteorologist in Victoria, Texas. Chief Meteorologist at Fox 2 which serves the Rio Grande Valley, and most recently as the Chief Meteorologist for Univision San Antonio. She moved to Gainesville to expand her career into both hire education and public service. She formed part of Florida Public Radio Emergency Network which is a public broadcasting weather service for the entire state of Florida. She also coached and mentored broadcasting students at the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications. Marithza enjoys running, cooking, fishing, and traveling. Her favorite things about Florida are the oranges, and fresh squeezed OJ.
