Wildfires in California get worse.

In Lower Lake, California the blaze has grown to 14,000 acres. Fire response team are working diligently to stop the flames, but only have five percent contained. Firefighter Rich Brocchini explains that despite the huge task on hand, they are not giving up.

In Central Fall, RI a water main break and heavy rain cause a pick-up truck to go down. Literally. The truck was swallowed by a sink hole opening surrounded by water. Police were able to help the driver to safety.

Meteorologist Marithza Calderón

Marithza Calderon is native Texan, her professional background includes morning meteorologist in Victoria, Texas. Chief Meteorologist at Fox 2 which serves the Rio Grande Valley, and most recently as the Chief Meteorologist for Univision San Antonio. She moved to Gainesville to expand her career into both hire education and public service. She formed part of Florida Public Radio Emergency Network which is a public broadcasting weather service for the entire state of Florida. She also coached and mentored broadcasting students at the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications. Marithza enjoys running, cooking, fishing, and traveling. Her favorite things about Florida are the oranges, and fresh squeezed OJ.
