About FPREN
Headquartered at WUFT-FM/TV on the campus of the University of Florida, FPREN broadcasts critical weather, safety, and evacuation information to help protect residents during storms, hurricanes, and other emergency events.
FPREN’s staff of meteorologists and multimedia producers create content 24/7 on all media platforms. Content and programming is provided in live or preproduced form to public media stations and their online platforms for distribution under local brands.
Emergency information is also delivered via our Florida Storms mobile app. This FREE app provides geo-targeted live forecasts, offers information about evacuation routes and shelters, and livestreams local public radio broadcasts.

Florida TaxWatch Government Productivity Award (2023)
WUFT and FPREN received this annual award for their government and public spending productivity. The award is given to a Florida government entity or unit that has exhibited an extraordinary return on taxpayer annual investment. Florida TaxWatch recognized WUFT and FPREN as an outstanding example of government working for the public good and being responsible with state investment.
