Maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph (85 km/h) with higher gusts. Strengthening is forecast for the next few days, and Lorenzo is expected to become a hurricane by Tuesday night.
Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 90 miles (150 km) from the center.
