Isaias continues to maintain maximum sustained wind speeds of 60 mph (97 km/h), with its forward motion to the northwest at 20 mph.
Heavy rains and life-threatening flash flooding have been reported from the neighboring island of Puerto Rico, where power has been knocked out to thousands of customers. Tropical storm conditions are likely to continue across Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands through Thursday afternoon, with heavy rainfall and flash flooding shifting towards Hispaniola and parts of the Bahamas on Friday.
Isaias could bring heavy rainfall and wind impacts to the Sunshine State late Friday and into the weekend but it is still too early to determine the exact location and magnitude of those impacts. Floridians should continue to monitor the progress of Isaias and plan accordingly while listening to their local emergency managers.
