A frontal boundary will produce a line of potentially severe storms in Florida’s Panhandle midday Monday. As of 6pm Sunday, the Storm Prediction Center forecast areas of the western Panhandle with a slight risk of severe thunderstorms Monday, including the cities of Pensacola and Panama City. Primary threats with the system are damaging winds and frequent cloud-to-ground lightning, although isolated tornadoes are also possible.
Scattered showers and gusty winds will begin in Pensacola around 10am Monday, and the frontal boundary will move quickly west to east across the Panhandle throughout the afternoon. The system will gradually weaken as it pushes through and severe weather is not expected east of Tallahassee, although isolated thunderstorms are possible into Monday evening along the Nature Coast.
The frontal boundary will become stationary Tuesday morning, leaving scattered showers and isolated storms possible along the I-10 corridor through Tuesday afternoon.
