The first two nights of spring will be very winter-like across the northern half of the state. Thanks to a vigorous cold front, lows for many will drop into the 30s and low 40s both Monday and Tuesday mornings, the coldest temperatures in three weeks. Here’s what to expect the next two days.
Cold and dry air will sweep across the Panhandle Sunday night, sending overnight temperatures into the upper 30s as far east as Lake City. And that’s not even the worst part: a potent northwesterly breeze will knock wind chills down to near freezing in some spots near daybreak. High temperatures Monday will be held in check despite plenty of sunshine, with most areas in the low-mid 60s and a stiff northerly breeze. Things get even colder Monday night. Patchy frost is possible in the Panhandle and in outlying areas of North Central Florida as winds die down after sunset. Temperatures in outlying and inland areas will dip into the low 30s, with coastal locations near 40.
