The National Hurricane Center began issuing advisories on Tropical Depression Four late Wednesday evening. The system was located about 1500 miles east of the Lesser Antilles and was moving west-northwest at 14 mph.

The classification of the season’s fourth cyclone was based on satellite data and surface observations from nearby ships.

The forecast for TD Four is rather grim. A large area of dry air is likely to keep it from strengthening much over the next 24 hours, and an increase in strong winds aloft may cause it to dissipate entirely by the weekend.  The projected track of TD Four (or it’s remnants) takes it north of the Lesser Antilles over the weekend and somewhere east of The Bahamas by early next week. TD Four is not a threat to the United States or Florida.
