Triple-Digit Heat Indices Expected Statewide Tuesday

Florida can be quite warm in the summertime, but this week is even hot by Florida standards.

Highs will be in the low to mid 90s across inland areas, low 90s along the coasts, and upper 80s to near 90 in the Florida Panhandle. The humidity is particularly oppressive, yielding “feels like” temperatures at or above 100 in nearly every city Tuesday across the state. The weak winds will also delay the advancement of the sea breeze showers and thunderstorms, so triple-digit heat indices might be felt for several hours in a row across inland areas.

There is no relief from the heat in site over the next few days, as slightly drier air and higher pressure aloft will likely reduce the coverage of afternoon storms through Thursday, thereby allowing the buildup of heat and humidity to continue each day.
